Father Killed in Road Rage Incident, Elderly Man Charged

A tragic incident unfolded in North Carolina on Saturday evening when a father was fatally shot during a road rage dispute. The alleged shooter, 75-year-old Terrell Eugene Giddens, is accused of killing 40-year-old Jeffrey Michael Guida with a rifle. Witnesses report that the two men had exited their vehicles during a traffic disagreement when the shooting occurred. Giddens is also accused of firing multiple shots at Guida’s vehicle, which was occupied by his three children at the time.

The incident took place in Catawba, North Carolina, where Giddens was later arrested at his home. Guida’s children, aged 13, 11, and 2, were in the vehicle during the shooting but were not physically injured. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office confirmed their safety, with Capt. Aaron Turk expressing relief that the children were not harmed.

Giddens now faces charges of murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder, according to the sheriff’s office. The incident reportedly took place at the intersection of Island Point Road and North View Harbour Drive in Catawba, approximately an hour outside of Charlotte.

Deputies responding to the scene found Guida deceased around 5 p.m., with Giddens having fled the scene. However, eyewitness descriptions of Giddens and his vehicle led investigators to his nearby home on Island Point Road, where he was subsequently arrested.

The community has been left in shock following the incident, with a small memorial being erected for Guida at the intersection where he was killed. Local resident Dennis Couch expressed disbelief at the violent event, stating, “It’s unbelievable, isn’t it? That something like that could happen right here in my neighborhood.”
