The exhaustive search for Indi Bullock, a 5-year-old nonverbal child, concluded tragically on Friday when his body was discovered in a pond, as reported by the Gwinnett County Police. Indi was last spotted on Thursday around 4:25 p.m. at the Reflections on Sweetwater Apartments, situated at 3405 Sweetwater Road in Gwinnett County. According to investigators, the young boy had wandered away from the apartment complex.
The following day, his body was discovered in a retention pond located behind the apartment complex. The Gwinnett County police had conducted an extensive search operation for over 14 hours, employing helicopters, drones, their Community Response Team, and a Swift Water Rescue Team. The gated apartment complex was meticulously searched. The Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) also participated in the search efforts.
Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Ryan Winderweedle expressed the emotional toll the incident had taken on all the crews and law enforcement agencies involved in the search for Indi. He stated that it was a challenging situation for everyone, especially when an innocent child who had wandered away from his home was found in such tragic circumstances.
At this point, the police have ruled out any suspicion of foul play. They have confirmed that Indi’s parents have been fully cooperative with the investigation. Cpl. Winderweedle referred to the incident as a “tragic accident.”
The cause of death is yet to be determined. Indi’s body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office for further investigation. In the meantime, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses during this difficult time.
