Aspiring Rapper Found Guilty of Torturing 4-Year-Old Daughter

Tekquan Alexander, a California man and aspiring rapper, was convicted on Tuesday for the horrific abuse of his 4-year-old daughter. Arrested in 2021, Alexander was found guilty of torture, assault, and corporal injury to a child. The young girl was subjected to days of violent abuse, which left her unresponsive and in need of emergency medical attention.

The child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, where she was diagnosed with severe injuries. These included traumatic damage to her brain and spine, multiple broken bones, and numerous cuts and bruises. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office described the injuries as “catastrophic,” leaving the child in a vegetative state.

Following the verdict, Deputy District Attorney Rikole Kelly issued a statement. She expressed that while the child faces a future of unimaginable challenges due to Alexander’s reprehensible actions, the verdict brings a degree of justice to her and those deeply affected by the case.

The child’s mother, Keyonna Watts, shared her perspective on the case in 2022. At the time of the incident, Watts was living in Atlanta, Georgia, while Alexander had moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. Watts revealed that she was informed by a detective about her daughter’s critical condition, including bleeding from the brain. Alexander, during a FaceTime call, told her that the child had “passed out standing in time-out.”

Medical records from the child’s emergency room visit revealed that part of her skull had to be removed to relieve the pressure caused by the bleeding. Court documents further detailed the extent of the abuse, stating that Alexander would punish his daughter for bed-wetting by making her perform strenuous exercises and physically abusing her with boxing gloves, a belt, and speaker wire.

Alexander’s sentencing is scheduled for December 12. He could face a maximum sentence of seven years to life for his crimes.
