“American Idol” Boss and Husband Found Dead in LA Home

In a shocking incident, a prominent figure in the music industry and her husband were found dead in their Los Angeles residence, valued at $4.5 million. Robin Kaye, a renowned music supervisor for the popular reality show “American Idol,” and her husband, musician Thomas Deluca, were both 70 years old. The couple was discovered in their upscale Encino home following an apparent break-in, according to a source from the Los Angeles Police Department.

The bodies were discovered during a welfare check on Monday afternoon, after the couple had been out of contact for four days. Both victims had sustained what seemed to be gunshot wounds to the head. The Los Angeles Police Department has yet to identify any suspects. The Fire Department confirmed the deaths at the scene. The motive behind the killings remains unclear as the investigation continues.

Kaye’s body was found in the pantry, while Deluca was discovered in the bathroom, as reported by NBC Los Angeles. Blood was found in the entryway and a window was broken, suggesting the possible entry point of the assailant. However, the house did not appear to have been ransacked, leading authorities to rule out burglary as a motive.

Police had been alerted to the residence earlier on Thursday when neighbors reported a suspicious individual jumping the fence. However, no signs of foul play were found at that time. The house, previously owned by rapper Juice WRLD, who died in 2019, was last sold for approximately $4.5 million in 2023, according to Zillow.

Kaye had a distinguished career in the music industry, having worked on “American Idol” for 15 seasons. She was a recipient of several Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. In addition to “American Idol,” Kaye also contributed to shows like “Lip Sync Battle,” Miss USA, and Miss Universe.

The news of the couple’s death has sent shockwaves through the industry. An “American Idol” spokesperson expressed their devastation at the loss of Robin and her husband, Tom. They praised Robin as a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009, who was loved and respected by all who knew her.

The couple’s residence, one of the largest and most secure in the area, is surrounded by high walls topped with security spikes. However, the Encino neighborhood has been troubled by frequent break-ins and burglaries over the years, including a recent break-in at the home of “Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson.
