4 Found Dead in Home, Including 2 Children

Four individuals, including two children, were discovered dead inside a San Francisco home, prompting a homicide investigation by local authorities. The San Francisco Police Department confirmed on Wednesday, Oct. 8, that the discovery was made during a welfare check on the 900 block of Monterey Blvd.

Officers arrived at the residence around 1:23 p.m., responding to concerns about the occupants’ wellbeing, and found the individuals unresponsive. They were declared deceased at the scene. The incident is being treated as suspicious, with the department’s Homicide Detail leading the investigation, according to a police press release.

The San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is conducting a parallel investigation to determine the cause and manner of death. Police assured the public that this appears to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to community safety.

While the identities of the victims have not been disclosed by authorities, local media, including ABC7 News, reported that two of the deceased were children. Neighbors suspect the victims were members of a family that lived in the house—a mother, father, and two young girls, according to NBC Bay Area.

Footage from outside the residence showed the property cordoned off by police, with officers present at the scene. Belinda Hanart, a neighbor, expressed shock at the tragedy, describing a quiet neighborhood where no suspicious sounds had been detected.

“Our bedroom is on their side, and we have two dogs so. There was no noise, nothing, and I think it was the most disturbing part we didn’t hear anything. Nothing,” Hanart said. “We knew it was a family of four with two girls. The older one was probably 12 to 13 years old and a dog, and it was a very normal family with normal family routine.”

Authorities have indicated that the possibility exists that a suspect could be one of the deceased, although Officer Robert Rueca noted that this has not been confirmed as of yet. The investigation remains ongoing, and further details will be provided as they are available.
