18-month-old twins die after grandma with Alzheimer’s leaves back door open

A devastating tragedy occurred in Oklahoma City on Thursday morning when two 18-month-old twins, Locklyn and Loreli Callazzo, drowned in their backyard swimming pool. By the time the firefighters arrived, their mother Jenny had already pulled them out of the water and was administering CPR. The first responders took over and transported them to the Baptist Hospital, but despite their efforts, the twins were declared dead.

Jenny, who owns a bow boutique from home, lives on the property with her grandmother, husband Sonny (age 42, a marketing executive) and their six children. According to The Daily Mail, a family member claimed that the grandmother, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s, had opened the back door of the house, which enabled the twins to access the pool.

Mike Bernard, a neighbor, reported seeing the mother in an EMS vehicle in distress. He also said that the first responders brought out the two children and put them in separate ambulances while performing CPR. A GoFundMe page has been created to help raise money for the Callazzo family, with the message: “These beautiful babies were taken from us too soon.”

The Oklahoma City Police are investigating the incident and have stated that they do not believe it to be criminal in nature at this time.
