A heartbreaking event unfolded in Duncanville, Texas, when a one-year-old boy lost his life following a brutal attack by three dogs. The Duncanville Police Department confirmed the toddler’s death on Monday, April 15, stating that the child suffered grave injuries during the incident. The toddler’s identity remains undisclosed at this time.
The interim Police Chief of Duncanville, Matthew Stogner, reported that the attack happened while the child was under the care of a babysitter. Despite the dogs being kept outside the property, they somehow managed to gain entry into the house where the tragic incident occurred.
Emergency services were alerted to the situation around 10:40 a.m. on April 15. Upon arrival, they immediately initiated life-saving measures on the unconscious child before rushing him to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Regrettably, despite their best efforts, the child was later pronounced dead.
During a press briefing, Chief Stogner identified the dogs involved in the attack as a German shepherd mix, each weighing around 80 lbs. He further explained that the homeowner attempted to separate the dogs from the child before the arrival of the authorities, resulting in injuries to herself.
In a fortunate turn of events, three other children and one adult who were in the house at the time of the attack were unscathed. Following the incident, Duncanville Animal Control took custody of the dogs. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation, with the potential for criminal charges to be filed.
