Woman terrorizing neighborhood is taken down by police

Bodycam footage captured the events that unfolded in February when Kentucky police confronted a woman armed with a gun.

The Louisville Police Department was responding to a mental health complaint when they encountered 52-year-old Candy Marie Basil. According to the police, she had been waving the gun around at her neighbors and had hit a vehicle with it before pointing it at the officers.

Officer Donald Brian Wyatt, a 19-year veteran, opened fire after the officers repeatedly yelled at her to drop the weapon, but she instead walked towards them.

Medical help was immediately provided to Basil before she was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital. She was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer and one count of menacing.

The officer-involved shooting is currently being investigated by Kentucky State Patrol’s Incident Response Team.
