A 30-year-old woman from the Bronx was fatally stabbed in her car while her boyfriend was reportedly relieving himself on the side of a secluded road on Wednesday night. The victim’s family, however, suspects there may be more to the incident than what has been reported. The woman, identified as Anthonella Contreras Linarez, and her 44-year-old boyfriend were en route to dinner on City Island around 8:10 p.m. when they stopped near Rodman’s Neck, according to law enforcement sources.
The boyfriend informed the police that while he was away from the car, two men on a moped approached and attempted to rob Contreras Linarez. When she resisted, they stabbed her multiple times before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred near Park Drive and City Island Road in the Bronx.
The boyfriend, who has not been named, told authorities that he rushed back to the car to intervene, but was slashed in the process. This account of events has been met with skepticism by the victim’s family. Mayker Contreras, the victim’s brother, expressed his doubts, stating, “The only question I have for him is, what happened? We’d like to know what happened. We want the truth of what happened. I’ll tell you the truth, I don’t trust what he says.”
Contreras Linarez and her boyfriend of three years were reportedly on their way to meet a friend on City Island when the tragic incident unfolded. She sustained multiple stab wounds to her face, neck, and body, leaving her critically injured. The boyfriend, who was also injured, drove her to Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The boyfriend, who was listed in stable condition, has since been discharged from the hospital and is currently being questioned by the police. The victim’s father, Marcos Contreras, expressed his devastation over the incident, stating, “There is always doubt,” as he awaits the results of the police investigation.
The family, originally from the Dominican Republic, has been residing in New York for approximately 11 years. Photos shared by the family show Contreras Linarez celebrating her graduation from Manhattanville College in Westchester County, and her boyfriend in a separate image. The victim’s brother, Mayker, stated that his sister’s death has shattered their close-knit family and left them questioning the circumstances surrounding her death.
The suspects, who were reportedly riding a moped, fled the scene after the attack and remain at large as of Thursday, according to the police.
