A domestic dispute took a deadly turn when a 20-year-old Tennessee woman allegedly shot her boyfriend after suspecting him of cheating. Authorities charged Dsani Badgett with first-degree murder following the Saturday incident in Knox County.
Responding to a distress call around 5:40 p.m., deputies found Badgett in a state of panic on a driveway. Inside the home, they discovered her boyfriend, Stephen Morgan, with fatal injuries—a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics who arrived on scene could do nothing for Morgan, pronouncing him dead at the scene.
Investigators learned that Badgett had used her phone to access Morgan’s Yahoo account after he used it due to damage to his own device. Upon viewing his messages, she reportedly discovered evidence of his infidelity. In a fit of anger, Badgett purportedly retrieved a firearm from their bedroom, positioned herself in the living room, and awaited Morgan’s return from work
Upon his arrival, an argument ensued, and Badgett allegedly showcased the weapon’s readiness by racking it multiple times. She demanded Morgan take actions concerning their relationship, escalating their confrontation further. In an attempt to disarm her, Morgan tried to grab the weapon, but Badgett reportedly discharged it, striking him twice.
Authorities arrested Badgett and took her into custody at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Center. She is currently held on a $300,000 bond as the investigation continues.
While the community grapples with the harsh reality of this event, investigators are piecing together details surrounding the shooting. The authorities continue their work to determine the circumstances that culminated in this fatal incident.
