Woman Missing Foot Falls 24 Stories

Adam Beckerink, a 46-year-old Chicago resident, has been detained by Cook County law enforcement on an out-of-state warrant related to accusations of domestic violence. This arrest follows the discovery of his wife, 36-year-old Caitlin Tracey, deceased at the base of a stairwell in their Chicago condo in October 2024. The circumstances surrounding Tracey’s death remain undisclosed.

Beckerink, a Michigan native, had a warrant issued in his name from his previous state of residence. The warrant was tied to his failure to appear in court for a charge of aggravated assault. The couple had lived in Michigan prior to their move to Chicago, where court documents reveal a history of domestic violence allegations against Beckerink.

Although Tracey’s death has not been directly attributed to Beckerink, her body was found in a severely damaged condition following a fall from the 24th floor of their building. The police report also mentioned that she was missing a foot. Beckerink was subsequently detained in Chicago for questioning in connection to her death.

Court records from Michigan disclose that police had noted physical injuries on Tracey in January 2024, including lip cuts and other red markings. Tracey had also reported that Beckerink had allegedly assaulted her and taken some of her possessions.

In August 2024, law enforcement revisited the couple’s residence. Beckerink was scheduled to appear in a Michigan court on October 29, 2024, for the assault charge. However, he was held in Chicago for questioning about Tracey’s death just days before his court date. The arrest warrant for his failure to appear at the October 29 hearing was issued on October 31, 2024.

At the time of Tracey’s death, the couple had been married for a mere six months. However, court records from their time in Michigan reveal a troubled past. In October 2023, Tracey had sought a protection order against Beckerink, citing four instances of domestic abuse. She later retracted her request after Beckerink threatened to sue her for defamation and libel.

Currently, Beckerink is facing six felony charges and two misdemeanors in Berrien County, Michigan, including domestic violence and resisting arrest. He is expected to be extradited to Michigan to face these charges and is currently being held in Cook County Jail without bond.
