Woman Kills Ex’s New Lover in Their Bed

A 24-year-old woman from California, Jessica Quintanilla, has been handed a sentence of 25 years to life for the murder of 19-year-old Leilani Marie Beauchamp. The incident occurred while Beauchamp was in bed with Quintanilla’s former lover. Quintanilla’s brother, Marco Quintanilla, 30, was also implicated in the crime and received a four-year sentence for his role as an accessory. The siblings were convicted in November.

The murder took place in the home of Jessica Quintanilla’s ex-partner, an Air Force airman. According to reports, Jessica Quintanilla later confessed to her brother, saying, “We killed someone,” a statement he initially dismissed as a joke. The case was brought to light on October 30, 2021, when Beauchamp was reported missing after leaving a Halloween party in Sacramento with two active-duty Air Force airmen who resided in Fairfield.

The police discovered the crime scene at the Fairfield house and swiftly arrested the Quintanilla siblings and one of the airmen living there. The latter led the police to the location where Beauchamp’s body was discarded in Salinas, over 130 miles south of the murder scene. Solano County Chief Deputy District Attorney Paul Sequeira suggested that the case might involve a love triangle, but investigations were ongoing.

The airman who guided the police to Beauchamp’s body was granted immunity from prosecution in return for his testimony. He claimed that Jessica Quintanilla had threatened to kill him if he revealed anything about the incident. Jessica Quintanilla, on the other hand, testified that the shooting was accidental, resulting from a confrontation with her ex-partner while she was upset and hungover.

William Alan Welch, Jessica Quintanilla’s attorney, argued that the shooting was a “quintessential heat of passion action,” as the victim was found naked in bed with his client’s ex-partner. Beauchamp’s family, however, mourned their loss, describing her as a blessing and expressing their love for her in a statement.
