Woman Fatally Shot at Her Desk During Lunch Break

A tragic incident unfolded in Lewisville on Thursday when a woman was fatally shot at her workplace. The male suspect was subsequently apprehended by the police. The Lewisville Police Department was alerted to the situation around 11:30 a.m., with reports of an active shooter at the business premises.

Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene, where the woman was shot while she was seated at her desk during her lunch break. Rachel Roberts, the Public Information Officer for the Lewisville Police Department, recounted the immediate response of the officers. The incident occurred near the police department, which shares a parking lot with Allegiance Trucks.

The police response was swift, with officers arriving on the scene promptly. They found the suspect inside the building, who surrendered without any resistance. A firearm was recovered from the scene by the investigators.

The female victim, an employee of the business, was rushed to a hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries. The nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspect remains unclear, with police confirming only that they were known to each other in some capacity. Roberts stated that the exact nature of their relationship is still under investigation.

A damaged door handle at the entrance of the business has raised questions about the circumstances leading up to the incident. It is unclear whether the damage was caused by the police, the shooter, or another party. The building appears to require a security code or badge for entry, but it is not yet known whether the suspect had such authorization.

The investigation is ongoing, with detectives interviewing numerous witnesses to piece together the details of the incident. Roberts noted that some witnesses were inside the building, others were outside, and many were in the vicinity when the incident occurred.
