Woman Carjacked, Kidnapped and Beaten in Terrifying Assault

A harrowing incident unfolded in Rochester, New York, when a woman was subjected to a kidnapping, carjacking, and brutal assault by two individuals. The victim, 29-year-old Allison Smith, shared her traumatic experience, which took place on September 13 and resulted in her hospitalization.

Smith was at a local deli, Four Guys, preparing to pay for her purchases when a woman offered to cover her bill with a five-dollar note. Smith, who only needed 10 cents, returned $4.90 to the woman and told her she would get a dollar from her car. However, the situation took a dark turn when the woman became visibly upset.

Smith attempted to calm the situation by retrieving the dollar from her car parked nearby. However, the woman and a man accompanying her threatened Smith with a gun and forced their way into her vehicle. They coerced Smith into driving them around the city, during which they picked up another woman they referred to as “wifey.”

The situation escalated as Smith was subjected to a brutal assault, including having a broken pipe forced into her mouth, causing her lips to bleed. Despite the horrifying circumstances, Smith found the strength to resist. She bit down on the arm holding her, causing a brief release that allowed her to escape.

Smith found safety in a nearby convenience store, where a bystander called the police. The following day, a car chase involving Smith’s stolen vehicle ended when the driver hit a curb. While several individuals fled from the car, police were able to apprehend one suspect.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Shawntae Hall, was charged with assault, robbery, unlawful imprisonment, and multiple counts of grand larceny. However, Hall was released and subsequently failed to appear in court, leading police to issue a warrant for her arrest.

Smith’s father expressed his shock at his daughter’s condition following the assault, stating she was unrecognizable due to the severity of her injuries. He called for better protection for individuals, emphasizing that such an incident could happen to anyone.
