Woman Arrested for Leaving 11-Year-Old Son with Deceased Man in Hotel Room

A 32-year-old Florida woman, Amy Kemper, was apprehended by authorities after she allegedly left her 11-year-old son alone in a hotel room with a deceased man for several hours. The incident occurred at the Hammock Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Palm Coast, where Kemper and her son checked in on a Saturday night. According to Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly, Kemper had arranged to meet two older men at the resort.

The authorities allege that Kemper engaged in drug use and sexual activities with the two men while her son was present in the room. Following these activities, Kemper reportedly left the room with one of the men, leaving her son with the other man, a 60-year-old who was later found dead in the room. The man was discovered unresponsive the following morning, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Kemper was arrested and charged with child neglect on Sunday. The Sheriff’s Office reported that the room contained various drugs and drug paraphernalia. Kemper confessed to the officers that the group had used drugs during the night. The identities of the two men involved with Kemper have not been disclosed by the police.

The incident has raised concerns about the child’s welfare. The boy was left alone with the deceased man for several hours until emergency services were alerted on Sunday morning. Following Kemper’s arrest, the Florida Department of Children and Families took the boy into custody.

Kemper is currently detained at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, with bail set at $15,000. Attempts to reach a representative for Kemper for comment have so far been unsuccessful.
