A festive Christmas event in the upscale town of Nantucket, Massachusetts, took a chaotic turn when a brawl broke out among men dressed in high-end fashion brands, moments after Santa Claus made his grand entrance. The incident occurred on Federal Street during the 51st Annual Christmas Stroll, a popular event that draws hundreds of visitors to the affluent small town to support local businesses.
The shocking incident was captured on video, showing approximately a dozen men, ranging in age from their 20s to 60s, engaged in a heated argument that quickly escalated into physical violence. The men divided into smaller groups, where the aggression continued to intensify.
An eyewitness described the scene to KISS108 radio station, likening it to a scene from the musical ‘West Side Story,’ but with the participants clad in Ralph Lauren and Burberry. The witness noted the age disparity among the brawlers, with younger men in their 20s squaring off against older men in their 60s.
The video footage showed a younger man pushing an older man, while another young man sucker-punched a man wearing a stylish brown trench coat. The attack prompted another individual to jump onto the attacker’s back. The brawl continued with one participant being thrown to the ground, while an older man chased a younger man, attempting to land a punch.
The chaotic scene unfolded with several men chasing each other, trading blows and shoving one another, as alarmed bystanders attempted to intervene and break up the melee. The eyewitness described the scene as “crazy” and “mayhem.”
The brawl erupted after a large crowd had gathered on Main Street to watch Santa Claus parade by during the weekend-long seasonal street fair. The cause of the brawl remains unclear.
Nantucket police arrived at the scene around 2 p.m., but no arrests were made, and none of the participants pressed charges. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
