Well-dressed Woman Stabs Photographer

A woman, dressed in a leather jacket and heels, allegedly attacked an amateur photographer who unintentionally included her in his photos while shooting in the West Village, according to police reports. The incident occurred on Varick Street near West Houston Street around 4:20 p.m. on May 5. The photographer, a 36-year-old man, was taking pictures for social media when the woman, clad in a black dress and sunglasses, noticed she was in his shots.

Upon realizing she was in the photographer’s images, the woman reportedly became enraged. Police say she first punched the man in the shoulder before brandishing a pair of scissors and stabbing him in the back. After the attack, the woman left the scene, heading south on Varick Street and entering the Houston Street subway station.

The victim, despite his injuries, declined medical attention at the scene. The injuries were reported to be minor.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) released surveillance photos and video footage of the suspect on Wednesday night. The images show the woman in a black dress, leather jacket, and heels. In some of the footage, she is seen wearing sunglasses, which she appears to have removed before disappearing into the subway station.

The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in identifying the woman involved in the daylight assault. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
