Oswaldo Perez-Sanchez, a Las Vegas resident, was apprehended in Mexico after being on the run for two years. He was wanted in connection with the 2023 murder of his girlfriend, Tabatha Tozzi, 26. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that Perez-Sanchez allegedly shot Tozzi following a dispute in April 2023 and then fled the scene.
The search for Perez-Sanchez spanned two years, with the FBI joining the investigation after the first year. His capture came about in Villa Fontana, Culiacán, where he was arrested on April 7 in relation to the death of another woman, Vivian Karely.
The Specialized Arrest Unit in Mexico, known as the Unidad Especializada en Aprehensiones, announced Perez-Sanchez’s arrest in Ciudad Obregón. He was charged with femicide and forced disappearance. Reports suggest that Perez-Sanchez had been living under the pseudonym “Jorge N” while in hiding.
Perez-Sanchez is currently being held in Mexico on local charges, awaiting extradition to the United States, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. It remains unclear whether Perez-Sanchez has entered a plea at this time.
Following the arrest, Regina Lacerda, the mother of Tabatha Tozzi, expressed both relief and sorrow. She was relieved that her daughter’s alleged killer had been apprehended, but also mourned the loss of Vivian Karely, Perez-Sanchez’s other alleged victim.
Lacerda expressed her sympathy for Karely’s family, stating that no mother should have to endure the pain of losing a daughter in such a horrific manner. She offered her support to the family and vowed to join them in their fight for justice.
A memorial service for Tozzi is scheduled for Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Craig Ranch Regional Park.
