US Congressman’s Brother Found Shot to Death

In a shocking event on Tuesday, Timothy Kildee, sibling of Michigan Congressman Dan Kildee, was fatally shot at his residence in Genesee County, Michigan. The unfortunate news was confirmed by Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson, who revealed that the 57-year-old victim was allegedly killed by his own 27-year-old son, who is now in police custody.

During a press briefing, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton outlined the potential charges that could be leveled against the accused. These include open murder, carjacking, armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, using a firearm during a felony, and a motor vehicle infraction related to a subsequent crash.

Upon receiving the heartbreaking news, Congressman Dan Kildee, aged 65, was informed by Sheriff Swanson. The Congressman is currently on his way back to Michigan from Washington, D.C. In a social media post, the Democratic representative shared his family’s sorrow and expressed gratitude to the community for respecting their privacy during this challenging period.

The incident reportedly began with a domestic dispute in Burton, Michigan, which was reported to the police in the early morning hours. Sheriff Swanson indicated that a firearm was involved in the verbal altercation. After the dispute, the son left his father’s residence on foot and reached out to his mother, who drove him back to Timothy’s home in Vienna Township.

However, while on the way to the house, the 27-year-old suspect jumped out of the moving vehicle. The parents then started looking for their son. When the father returned home alone, Timothy’s other son, who was at home sleeping, alerted the authorities. A confrontation was overheard, during which the suspect demanded the victim’s wallet and keys.

Shortly after, a gunshot was heard, believed to be the fatal shot. The suspect then allegedly stole the victim’s car and fled the scene, leading to a high-speed collision with another vehicle within eight minutes. The suspect sustained serious injuries and is currently under police surveillance while receiving treatment at the hospital. The occupants of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

As the investigation progresses, it is suspected that substance abuse may have been a factor in the suspect’s behavior. Toxicology reports will confirm this suspicion. Sheriff Swanson expressed his belief that there may have been underlying factors contributing to the suspect’s violent actions. The authorities are continuing to gather more information about the incident.
