Urgent Search for Missing 2-Year-Old

A two-year-old boy from Oregon, known for his friendly and fearless nature, has mysteriously disappeared while playing in his front yard on Saturday afternoon. The toddler, Dane Paulsen, was last seen at his home near Highway 229, just north of Siletz, around 4:30 p.m. His disappearance triggered a massive search operation involving multiple agencies, including the FBI, and over 100 volunteers, as reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The young boy was out of his parents’ sight when he vanished from his front yard. The Sheriff’s Office described Dane as a child who is comfortable around strangers and water, despite not being able to swim. He is known to have a fondness for water and vehicles.

At this point, the authorities have found no evidence to suggest any foul play. However, investigators are following several leads, with divers searching the Siletz River near the boy’s home.

The search operation has been extensive, with four boats, divers, drones, six police dogs, 40 investigators, and nearly 140 volunteers contributing to the effort over the last 24 hours. Local resident Randy James and his German Shepherd also joined the search on Sunday.

James shared with Oregonlive.com that while boats were in the river, volunteers were spread 10 to 15 feet apart to comb over creek beds, brush, and “anywhere the child could have gone.” He expressed the community’s collective effort, stating, “It’s good to help out. The community all came together to search…No one deserves to have a missing family member.”

The authorities initially sought a driver who was near the child’s home about 30 minutes before the disappearance. However, after locating the motorist, he was no longer considered a person of interest in the case.

As of Sunday evening, the search had covered 382 acres and 283 miles, according to the sheriff’s office. The Sheriff’s department expressed gratitude to the community for their compassion and assistance, stating, “Our team and the community are working tirelessly to bring Dane home.”
