A tragic incident unfolded in the Bronx when a 10-year-old girl fell from a building window, resulting in her death. The incident occurred at 2157 Southern Boulevard in East Tremont, with police responding to the scene around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday. The young girl, who may have been alone at the time of the incident, sustained injuries consistent with a fall from a significant height.
The child was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital via a private vehicle, where she was later pronounced dead. Prior to the incident, the girl and her mother reportedly had a disagreement over the use of an iPad. The mother left the home around 4:30 p.m. for a medical appointment. Upon her return, she discovered her daughter in the courtyard of their building.
The police are currently examining surveillance footage to ascertain whether the child was alone at the time of the incident and to determine if she fell from a window or the roof. The incident has left the community in shock, with neighbors expressing their grief over the loss of the friendly and kind-hearted girl.
One neighbor, Antoinette Talamone, described the girl as a sweetheart who always greeted people with a ‘good morning’. Another resident, Madeleine Martinez, expressed her disbelief and sadness over the tragic incident, noting the profound loss felt by the girl’s family, friends, and schoolmates.
The city’s medical examiner is tasked with determining the cause of the child’s death. As of now, no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
