On Wednesday morning, a 15-year-old boy made a call to police after he found his mother and stepfather dead in the driveway of their Georgia home. Inside the house were the boy’s two sisters, both of whom were unharmed. According to police, the three children were of elementary school, middle school, and high school age.
The incident is believed to have been a domestic violence dispute and police recovered the weapon used at the scene. Sgt. Michele Pihera of the Gwinnet County Police Department stated that a murder-suicide is a possibility. Colin Barnes, a neighbor of the family, expressed his sadness over the tragedy, saying that he had babysat the children and that he was very close to the couple.
Police have yet to release the names of the couple until their next of kin has been notified and are awaiting a medical examiner’s ruling. The investigation is still ongoing.
