A 16-year-old girl was tragically killed in a Bronx deli on Tuesday afternoon, following what appears to have been a dispute. The teenager, identified as Aliyah Williams, was discovered with multiple stab wounds to her face, chest, and body at the Deli Grocery on Boston Road in Williamsbridge, shortly before 4 p.m., as per police reports. Despite being rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in a critical condition, she was later pronounced dead.
Williams’ grandmother, Rose Anderson, was at work when she received the devastating news. She revealed that an argument had broken out at the store just before her granddaughter was fatally stabbed. The family had been in contact via text messages just hours before the incident.
Anderson, visibly shaken, expressed her disbelief at the scene of the crime. She described Williams as a well-mannered, sociable teenager who was diligent in her studies and respectful to her parents. “I never expected this to really happen to her because she’s not a bad kid,” Anderson said. “She’s sadly missed by everyone. I’m sorry she had to go this way and I hope they find the killer.”
The police have yet to make any arrests. The suspect, described as a female dressed in all black, white sneakers, and a red or pink headpiece, is still at large. She was last seen fleeing the scene of the crime.
The usually peaceful neighborhood, where Williams lived just two blocks away from the deli, has been left in shock following the incident. Guy Smith, a neighbor who lives across the street from the grieving family, expressed his sorrow. “It’s very, very sad. I get very emotional about these things because she’s only 16. I’m weak, I’m gonna cry and tear up and hope for the best and give my respects to the family,” Smith said.
Another resident, Brian Jenkins, expressed his frustration at the lack of answers regarding the cause of the dispute. “For this to happen, it’s sad and it’s not a good look,” Jenkins said. “And the crazy part is, we have no answers. We don’t know what happened… We don’t know why it happened, who did it, why was the cause of it. It’s sad.”
The police have stated that the incident is still under investigation.
