Teen Forced to Live in Shed: Parents Charged

A Pennsylvania couple is facing charges after allegedly forcing their 16-year-old son to live in a shed on their property for several months. The couple, identified as Daryl, 41, and Grace Sensenig, 42, reportedly evicted their son from their Reinholds home due to what they termed as “inappropriate behaviors.” The boy has been living in the wooden shed, which lacks running water, since mid-March, according to local police.

The shed’s lack of amenities meant the teenager had to resort to relieving himself outdoors and using a hose for drinking water. His parents reportedly allowed him to shower indoors once a week. The boy was also required to use his earnings from a part-time job to pay for his food, as reported by the Ephrata Police Department.

The situation came to light when the boy called 911 after his father allegedly attacked him for refusing to return to the shed. According to the police, Daryl Sensenig tackled his son and strangled him with both hands during the altercation.

Following the incident, the boy was taken into the care of extended family members. Both parents were arrested at their home and are facing charges of endangering the welfare of children. Daryl Sensenig is also facing an additional charge of simple assault.

The couple was subsequently released on a $30,000 bond. The case has shocked the local community and has raised questions about child welfare and protection in the area.
