Teen Faces Attempted Murder Charge Following Incident at High School

A 16-year-old student was apprehended on Tuesday, facing charges of attempted murder following an alleged brutal assault on a fellow student at a New Jersey high school, according to the local prosecutor’s office. The teenager, whose identity remains undisclosed due to his minor status, is believed to have stabbed a 15-year-old male multiple times with a knife during a dispute in a restroom at Fort Lee High School shortly before 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

The victim, discovered by emergency responders and school security personnel, sustained multiple stab wounds to his neck, back, arm, and chest. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but is expected to recover.

The high school, situated a few blocks from the George Washington Bridge, was placed on lockdown until approximately 2 p.m. when students were allowed to leave, as reported by local media. The surrounding roads were also temporarily closed, and parents were advised not to approach the school building, as per a notice shared on social media.

The accused teenager was apprehended at the scene of the incident. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he is also facing charges of second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree weapon possession, and fourth-degree weapon possession.

The accused is currently detained at the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center, awaiting a closed hearing. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
