An 18-year-old Texas resident, Brandon Michael Davis, was apprehended on Sunday for allegedly murdering a man who was changing a tire in his driveway. The victim, identified as Dustin Nobles, was reportedly shot in the chest by Davis, who then told him to “make sure you die slow.” Davis has been charged with one count of murder in connection to Nobles’ death.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Eddy, Texas, on the 1300 block of Old Moody Road. Law enforcement officers responded to reports of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, they discovered Nobles suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper chest. Despite the efforts of paramedics to save him, Nobles was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:04 p.m.
According to the police report, Nobles’ car was found with the front passenger side elevated on a jack and the wheel removed. A tool bag was also discovered nearby. Davis, who was still at the scene, was contacted by the police, along with two unidentified witnesses.
One of the witnesses informed the police that he had arrived at Davis’ home to find Nobles outside, having removed a tire from his car. The witness revealed that Davis and Nobles were acquainted and had had several altercations in the past. The witness woke Davis, who then asked his grandfather to tell Nobles to leave the property.
The grandfather reported back to Davis that Nobles would need between 30 and 60 minutes to repair his car and leave. Davis, however, insisted that Nobles had only 10 minutes to fix his car and depart. After a disagreement with his grandfather, Davis personally delivered the ultimatum to Nobles. He then retrieved a firearm from inside the house. The witness reported hearing Nobles challenge Davis, followed by the sound of a gunshot.
Following his arrest and booking into the McLennan County Jail, Davis agreed to an interview with detectives. He claimed that he was asleep when the first witness informed him of Nobles’ presence. Davis admitted to grabbing his rifle and confronting Nobles, who he claimed approached him aggressively, albeit unarmed. Davis stated that he shot Nobles in the chest, as he had no intention of engaging in a physical altercation.
