The music world is mourning the loss of Sam Rivers, co-founder and bassist of the renowned band Limp Bizkit. Rivers, 48, was found lifeless in the bathroom of his Florida home on October 18, as per an incident report. The report, which was made public, revealed that a woman named Keely found Rivers and promptly alerted emergency services.
Keely reportedly discovered Rivers lying face down in his bathroom and attempted to resuscitate him using CPR, according to the 911 call recording. A deputy from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Department in St. Augustine also performed CPR upon arrival, until the St. Johns County Fire Rescue arrived and pronounced Rivers dead. The report indicated that Rivers had a cut above his eye, hinting at a possible fall.
The report further elaborated that Rivers’ face and neck were a dark blue color, while the rest of his body was flushed. This is a typical symptom in cases of pulmonary embolism, as per the authorities. A small quantity of coagulated blood was also discovered in the bathroom. Keely informed the deputies that Rivers had a liver transplant in 2018 and was taking several prescribed medications. However, the official cause of Rivers’ death is yet to be determined.
Limp Bizkit, which was co-founded by Rivers and Fred Durst in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994, announced the heartbreaking news of Rivers’ passing on Instagram on October 18. The band members expressed their sorrow, describing Rivers as the heartbeat of the band and a unique human being. They reminisced about his effortless talent, unforgettable presence, and enormous heart.
Rivers, who was the original bassist for the band, briefly left the group in 2015 due to liver disease caused by alcohol abuse. He rejoined the Grammy-nominated band in 2018 and remained a crucial member until his death. His last performance with Limp Bizkit was at the Leeds Festival in the UK in August.
