Diamond Tankard, a 21-year-old former reality TV star, is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a woman at a Walmart in Antioch, Tennessee, about seven miles from Nashville International Airport. According to an arrest affidavit, Tankard approached the woman from behind in the self-checkout lane, grabbed her hair, and attacked her with a sock filled with rocks.
The incident, which was captured on security footage and by bystanders, showed Tankard, dressed in a pink shirt and camouflage pants, pulling the woman by her hair and throwing a series of punches. She then used a white and red striped tube sock to strike the woman in the face. The footage also revealed that Tankard was wearing an ankle monitor during the assault.
After the attack, Tankard was seen picking up items from the ground. The victim later reported to the police that her $1,500 iPhone 14 and $900 Louis Vuitton handbag were missing. The victim’s grandmother, who was present during the incident, confirmed to the police that Tankard used a sock filled with rocks to hit her granddaughter, causing a large cut on her forehead above her left eye.
The victim was transported to a local medical center for stitches by Nashville EMS. Walmart provided security footage of the attack to the police, corroborating the victim and her grandmother’s statements. Tankard was subsequently arrested and booked into the Davidson County jail, charged with theft of property and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Tankard was released on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 22. The motive behind the assault remains unclear. Tankard is known for her appearance on the Bravo reality TV show “Thicker Than Water,” where she starred alongside her grandfather, gospel producer Ben Tankard.
This is not Tankard’s first run-in with the law. In December, she was charged with attempted first-degree murder for allegedly hitting a woman with her vehicle intentionally. The incident occurred after a verbal argument turned physical outside a bar. Tankard was wearing an ankle monitor for a domestic assault-related arrest at the time of the incident.
Tankard was a main cast member of “Thicker Than Water,” which aired from 2013 to 2016. The show focused on the life of her grandfather, a former NBA player turned gospel-jazz music producer, and his family in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
