A suspect has been apprehended in relation to the murder of a 16-year-old pregnant girl, whose remains were discovered in a wooded area early Monday. The family of the deceased, Mia Campos, reported her disappearance on Sunday evening. Her body was subsequently located with the aid of a mobile phone tracking application.
The initial examination of the crime scene presented challenges in determining the cause of Campos’ death. However, an autopsy conducted on Tuesday confirmed that she had been murdered. On Wednesday, law enforcement officials announced the arrest of Jesus Monroy, Campos’ former boyfriend, on charges of providing false statements to the police.
Sgt. Collin Flynn stated that during an interview with Monroy, it was established that he had misled the police with false information. It was reported that Monroy had been living with the Campos family for the two days preceding the incident.
The bereaved parents, Edward and Miriam Campos, are still grappling with the mystery surrounding their daughter’s untimely death. Edward recounted the harrowing experience of finding Mia’s lifeless body in the woods.
