Parents of missing 11-year-old arrested

The parents of missing 11-year-old Madalina Cojocari were arrested Saturday for failing to report her missing, the Cornelius Police Department announced.

Diana Cojocari, 37, and Christopher Palmiter, 60, were arrested on Saturday for failing to report the disappearance of a child to law enforcement. According to records, Cojocari and Palmiter are both in the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.

Madalina was last seen on November 23 at her home in Cornelius, about 20 miles north of Charlotte. It took her parents until December 15 to report Madalina missing to a school resource officer at Bailey Middle School.

According to authorities, she was last seen wearing jeans, pink, purple, and white Adidas shoes, and a white T-shirt and jacket. According to the FBI, she is 4-foot-10-inches and 90 pounds, and a photo released to the public shows her wearing a t-shirt that says, “I can change the world with love.”
