Deputies found four wounded men on North F Street after an early-morning altercation, and investigators have not identified a suspect.
LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — One man died and three others were hospitalized after a stabbing early Saturday in Lake Worth Beach, where Palm Beach County sheriff’s detectives are investigating an altercation involving several men and have not released information about a suspect.
Deputies responded at about 1:20 a.m. Aug. 29 to the 700 block of North F Street after receiving a report of a stabbing, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. They found four adult men suffering from apparent stab wounds. All four were taken to a local hospital. One man died shortly after arriving, a second was being treated for life-threatening injuries, and the other two suffered injuries that authorities described as not life-threatening.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Division responded and are investigating the death as a homicide. Investigators said preliminary information indicates that an altercation involving several men resulted in the stabbings. Authorities have not explained what started the confrontation, how many people took part or what happened immediately before deputies were called.
The Sheriff’s Office had not publicly identified the man who died or the three surviving victims as of Saturday night. Their ages also had not been released beyond authorities describing all four as adult men. Officials did not identify the hospital where the men were treated, and no updated condition was available for the victim whose injuries were described as life-threatening.
No suspect information had been released, and authorities had not announced an arrest. Investigators also had not disclosed a possible motive or said whether the wounded men knew one another or had any relationship with other people involved in the confrontation. The stabbing happened in a residential area of North F Street near Seventh Avenue North and the Florida East Coast Railway tracks. Local news reports described the surrounding blocks as largely made up of single-family homes. The scene is west of U.S. 1 and east of Interstate 95, away from the city’s oceanfront despite Lake Worth Beach being part of the city’s name.
Neighbors told WPTV that the large emergency response early Saturday was alarming in an area they described as normally quiet. A resident identified by the station as Gloria said she heard ambulances arrive and saw police vehicles fill the street. She told the station that the violence had increased her concerns about safety in the neighborhood, particularly when children are outside.
The Palm Beach Post reported that deputies had made no arrests as of 10 a.m. Saturday. Later reports from local television stations continued to describe the suspect as unknown. Authorities did not say whether detectives were looking for one person or multiple people, and they did not publicly describe any person of interest or vehicle connected to the investigation.
The death is being handled as a homicide investigation, but that classification does not identify a person responsible or establish criminal guilt. No criminal charges had been announced. Investigators had also not publicly described the weapon beyond saying the four men had apparent stab wounds, and no detailed evidence from the scene had been released.
