NFL Agent Dies in Golf Cart Accident

Jeff Sperbeck, a well-known agent and business partner of John Elway, tragically lost his life on Wednesday due to a golf cart accident in La Quinta, California. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the unfortunate incident. Sperbeck, aged 62, had been on life support since the accident took place on Saturday.

The accident occurred within the private Madison Club community, where Elway was driving the golf cart. Sperbeck fell off the cart, resulting in a severe head injury on the asphalt. At the time of the accident, both Sperbeck and Elway’s wives were present, along with Elway’s son. The group had recently returned from the Stagecoach music festival.

Immediately after the accident, Sperbeck was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Elway made the emergency call to 911. Upon arrival at the hospital, medical staff informed Sperbeck’s family that his condition was critical and chances of recovery were slim.

There have been concerns raised regarding the local law enforcement’s response to the incident. Reports indicate that the majority of the police force was assigned to the nearby music festival, which may have resulted in a delayed response to the accident. An investigation into the incident was launched by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

Despite Elway being the driver at the time of the accident, there is no implication that he was responsible. Sperbeck had an illustrious 30-year career as an NFL agent, representing renowned players such as Elway, Ronnie Lott, Joey Porter, Jim Plunkett, and Trent Dilfer, among others.

In addition to their professional relationship, Sperbeck and Elway were also business partners. They co-founded a winery named 7Cellars in 2015, a tribute to Elway’s jersey number.
