Mother Shoots Her 4 Children

A Texas woman has been arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault following a tragic incident in which she allegedly shot her four children, leading to the death of two and injuring the remaining two, as reported by local law enforcement. The incident came to light when police were summoned to a gas station in Brazoria County on the morning of Saturday, October 4, where they discovered the children, victims of gunshot wounds, inside a vehicle.

The accused, 31-year-old Oninda Romelus, was apprehended and charged in connection with the horrifying event. Brazoria County Sheriff Bo Stallman, during a press briefing, revealed that deputies arrived at the scene around 5:00 a.m. and immediately started providing medical assistance to the wounded children.

The sheriff confirmed the deceased as a 13-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl, who unfortunately did not survive their injuries. The other two children, an 8-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, were fortunate to survive and are currently in stable condition at a local hospital. The shooting did not take place at the Angleton gas station where Romelus had stopped, but it was the initial location where law enforcement responded before understanding the severity of the situation.

Romelus now faces two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held on a $14 million bond. The surviving children are assisting law enforcement with their investigation, providing some details about the incident. Investigators are working tirelessly to gather evidence and reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office has assured the public that all individuals involved have been apprehended and there is no ongoing threat to the community. They are collaborating with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, where Romelus is registered as a resident, in the ongoing investigation.

Sheriff Stallman expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “The outpouring of prayers and support for the affected children and our first responders is deeply appreciated. We commend the swift actions of the deputies and the cooperation of the community during this difficult time.”
