Mother of Four Murdered, Children Help Solve Case

A Texas mother of four was reportedly murdered by her boyfriend and her body abandoned in a Fort Worth field. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Taterea McGuire, was discovered by a landscaper on December 5 while mowing a property owned by the City of Fort Worth Water Department. The police have since arrested her boyfriend, 37-year-old LeDarren Tilley, in connection with her murder.

According to the arrest affidavit, McGuire was found shot to death, dressed in a shirt, underwear, socks, and a single shoe. The Fort Worth Police Department initiated an investigation after McGuire’s mother reported her missing on December 3, having received no response to her calls and messages.

Local police conducted a welfare check at McGuire’s Arlington residence but found no sign of her. Tilley informed the police that he last saw McGuire on December 2 when she left their shared residence alone. However, McGuire’s children provided a different account.

The children told their grandmother that both McGuire and Tilley left the house together, but only Tilley returned the next morning to take them to school. Tilley reportedly told the children that McGuire was with someone else and would not be taking them to school, a statement that contradicted his earlier account to the police.

Further interviews with the children revealed that Tilley often carried a gun, either on his person or in his vehicle. The children also disclosed a history of domestic violence between McGuire and Tilley, which had been ongoing for several months.

When confronted with the children’s statements, Tilley admitted to having intermittent disputes with McGuire but insisted they were on good terms the day before her disappearance. However, inconsistencies in his account, coupled with surveillance footage showing him driving to and from the location where McGuire’s body was found, led to his arrest.

The affidavit states, “Due to the victim’s children providing information that LeDarren was the last person seen with Taterea alive and returning without her with an explanation that was false; his statements to police that are clearly false due to video evidence, and his admission of being in control of the Tahoe the entire night, it is clear of his involvement in her death.”

A GoFundMe page set up by McGuire’s family to cover funeral expenses describes her as “the sweetest person who would do anything for anyone.” The page also states, “She was tragically and unexpectedly shot and killed by her boyfriend, leaving behind four beautiful children.” Tilley is currently being held at the Tarrant County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
