Mother Brutally Murdered Sleeping Teen Son as He Pleaded “Mommy”

A Missouri woman, 47-year-old Krista Roy, is facing charges of first-degree murder and felony armed criminal action following the brutal killing of her 16-year-old son. Court documents reveal that Roy allegedly shot her son multiple times while he was asleep, then proceeded to stab him with a kitchen knife, claiming she wanted to ease his pain.

The St. Charles Police Department was alerted to the situation when they received a request for a welfare check from the victim’s friends. The friends, who were described as being very close to the victim, had not heard from him for several days, which they found highly unusual. Upon arriving at the residence on Lightfoot Drive, officers were met with a foul smell emanating from the house.

Inside, they discovered the lifeless body of the teenager in his bed, bearing multiple gunshot and stab wounds. The death was ruled a homicide. Investigators also found a bloodied knife and ballistic evidence at the scene.

The friends who had requested the welfare check told police that the victim was a lover of life and was not suicidal. They also painted a picture of the victim’s mother as an odd individual who was minimally involved in her son’s life. One friend recounted the last time they saw the victim, dropping him off at his home in the early hours of September 27.

The investigation revealed that Roy had attempted suicide on the day her son’s body was discovered and was receiving treatment at a local hospital. Upon her release, she was taken into custody in connection with her son’s murder.

During a recorded interview, after voluntarily waiving her Miranda rights, Roy confessed to the murder. She admitted to obtaining a firearm from her ex-husband’s residence with the intention of killing her son and herself. She also confessed to shooting her son multiple times while he was asleep and then stabbing him with a kitchen knife when he didn’t die immediately.

Roy is currently being held at the St. Charles County Jail on a $1 million cash-only bond. The date of her court appearance has not yet been disclosed.
