Mother and a Football Coach Found Dead in Parking Garage

In a tragic incident earlier this month, a mother from New York City and a football coach from Michigan were discovered dead in a car in Miami. The victims, identified as Chastity Charlotte Rodriguez, 35, and Darius Coon, 31, were found with gunshot wounds in a downtown parking garage on the morning of July 19, according to the Miami Police Department.

Rodriguez, a Bronx resident, had traveled to Miami in search of employment at a strip club. Coon, on the other hand, had relocated to the Florida city a few months prior. The two are believed to have been on a date at the time of their deaths. The police found their belongings intact, ruling out robbery as a motive.

Rodriguez’s family is devastated by the loss. Her brother, speaking to CBS Miami, described her as a kind-hearted individual and a loving mother. The family is seeking justice for her untimely death, hoping that the perpetrators will be brought to book.

Coon, a fitness enthusiast and football coach, leaves behind a 7-year-old daughter and a teenage son. His family is grappling with the task of explaining the tragic incident to his young children. Coon’s mother, Tashia Porter, spoke to WXYZ-TV in Detroit, expressing her grief and describing her son as a dedicated father. Coon is scheduled to be laid to rest on his birthday, August 7.

The police were alerted to the crime scene after a foul smell was reported emanating from the vehicle. It is believed that the bodies may have been in the car for three to four days. The motive behind the double murder remains unclear. Investigators are currently examining several days’ worth of surveillance footage in an attempt to piece together the events leading up to the tragic incident.
