Mom Blamed Vaccines for Twins’ Deaths

Andrea Shaw is being held on $2 million bond after a grand jury indictment in Payette County.

PAYETTE, Idaho — An Idaho mother who previously claimed vaccines caused the deaths of her 18-month-old twins has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after a yearlong investigation, authorities said.

Andrea Shaw, 23, was indicted by a Payette County grand jury in the deaths of her twins, Dallas and Tyson Shaw. The children were found dead May 1, 2025, in a shared bed at a Payette home. Police said the case was investigated as a homicide, but officials have not publicly released the children’s cause of death.

Police were called to a home in the 1300 block of North 9th Street after a 911 call reported a child death. Officers found both toddlers dead inside the home. At the time, police said foul play was suspected. The case then moved into a long investigation involving local officers and prosecutors before a grand jury returned charges more than a year later.

Shaw was arrested in Boise after the indictment and was first booked into the Ada County Jail. She later waived extradition and was transferred to Payette County. At her arraignment, a judge set bond at $2 million. Court officials said each first-degree murder charge carries a possible sentence of life in prison or the death penalty if Shaw is convicted.

The case drew wider attention because Shaw and her husband appeared on a podcast after the twins died and said they believed the deaths were tied to vaccines. Shaw’s attorney, Joe Filicetti, has said his client maintains the children died from a medical issue and not from a crime. Authorities have not released evidence supporting that claim.

Police have released few details about what investigators believe happened inside the home. Payette police said that because the case is now in court, the department will not comment further on the facts or evidence. Shaw is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

If Shaw posts bond, court conditions would bar her from contact with children and from leaving Idaho. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 14 in Payette County District Court.
