Missing Woman’s Body Found in Boston Airport Garage

In a grim discovery at Logan Airport’s Central Parking garage, authorities located the deceased body of a 31-year-old woman, identified as Margaret Mbitu, on Wednesday evening. The discovery was made by state troopers after Mbitu, who had been missing for two days, was reported absent. The extent of her injuries, including severe lacerations to her face and neck, as well as additional wounds, led officials to immediately declare her deceased at the scene.

Margaret Mbitu, affectionately known as “Maggie” by those close to her, was last observed on Monday night after she finished her shift at BAMSI, a nonprofit organization in Halifax. This organization is located roughly 30 miles from the city center of Boston.

In a shocking turn, Mbitu’s boyfriend, 40-year-old Kevin Kangethe, has been implicated in this heinous act. Authorities pieced together the timeline leading to Kangethe’s abrupt departure to Kenya, which commenced mere hours after Mbitu was last seen. Surveillance footage captured Kangethe’s movements from driving into the airport’s parking structure to his check-in for the flight destined for Kenya.

The couple’s community and colleagues are left to mourn the loss of Mbitu, who was described as a dedicated per diem nurse known for her compassionate nature and charisma. Her contribution to the group homes operated by BAMSI was significant, touching the lives of staff and residents alike with her kindness and warmth.

The day following the discovery of Mbitu’s body, BAMSI publicly expressed their devastation over the loss of a beloved member of their community, highlighting the profound impact she had on those she served. This sentiment underscores the community’s sense of bereavement over a life cut tragically short.

With a warrant issued for Kangethe’s arrest, state police are coordinating with Kenyan officials to seek his extradition. The pursuit of justice now spans continents as investigators work tirelessly to piece together the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
