The body of a 15-year-old boy, who had been reported missing, was discovered in a Detroit cemetery, according to local law enforcement. The teenager, identified as Lawrence Dowl, was found wearing gloves and a ski mask, leading authorities to investigate the case as a potential homicide.
Dowl’s body was discovered on Thursday at Mt. Hazel Cemetery by an individual visiting a loved one’s grave. The teenager had last been seen two days prior, entering a vehicle, as reported by local news outlet WDIV.
Captain Marcus Thirlkill, of Detroit’s homicide division, shared some details with the media. “The individual we found in the cemetery was wearing gloves and what we believe to be a ski mask,” he said. While the investigation is still in its early stages, the case is being treated as a homicide.
Dowl was last seen on Tuesday, according to family members who spoke to Fox 2 Detroit. He was seen getting into a white Dodge Durango in the local area. The teenager left his mobile phone at home, making it difficult for authorities to track his movements.
A friend of Dowl’s, who was reportedly driving the car Dowl was last seen entering, told the family that he had dropped Dowl and another boy off in the area. After that, the two boys supposedly left on foot.
Dowl was reported missing on Wednesday, prompting a comprehensive search by the Detroit Police Department and Michigan State Police. As of now, no additional details have been released by the authorities.
