Missing Mother of Two Remains Found

The Maine State Police have confirmed that the remains discovered in Blaine, Maine, last month belong to Tomis Hoyt, a 36-year-old mother of two who vanished four months prior. Hoyt was last seen in July, barefoot and wearing torn jeans. While the identification of the remains was announced on Wednesday, the cause of Hoyt’s death is still unknown.

Hoyt, a resident of Presque Isle, was last seen on surveillance footage on July 13, a mere 15 miles from where her remains were later discovered. The footage, provided by the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, showed Hoyt walking barefoot down a road.

Following her disappearance, authorities issued a missing person’s alert, indicating that Hoyt likely had no money with her at the time. Hoyt’s family, in their desperate search for her, disclosed that she had struggled with mental illness and addiction in the past. However, they also highlighted that she had maintained her sobriety for nine years prior to her disappearance.

During Hoyt’s disappearance, her family made heartfelt pleas for her safe return. One family member had implored, “For the love of God, come home. We want you to come home, Tomi. We’ll get you into treatment. They will take care of things. Come home, Tomi.”

The discovery of Hoyt’s remains brings a tragic end to the months-long search for the missing mother. As the investigation into her death continues, her family and the community are left to grapple with the loss of a loved one and the unanswered questions surrounding her untimely death.
