Missing Hairstylist Found Dead After Long Search

The mother of Jax Gratton, a 34-year-old hairstylist from Denver, has confirmed the tragic passing of her daughter. Jax, who had been missing since April, was remembered by her mother, Cherilynne Gratton-Camis, in a heartfelt Facebook post over the weekend. Gratton-Camis mourned the loss of her daughter’s vibrant spirit, which she said had been extinguished far too soon.

Gratton-Camis expressed her deep appreciation for the outpouring of support she and her family received during this challenging time. She extended her gratitude to those who helped spread the word about Jax’s disappearance, sharing her photo and story, and sending prayers and kind thoughts. She also acknowledged the relentless efforts of those who actively participated in the search for Jax.

Jax, a trans woman, had a profound influence on her mother’s understanding and perception of the LGBTQIA+ community. Gratton-Camis revealed that her daughter’s experiences had enlightened her about the struggles faced by the community. She underscored the ongoing fight for the right to live, love, and exist safely and equally, a battle she believes should not exist, but sadly does.

Gratton-Camis remembered her daughter as a radiant beacon of light who touched many lives by being authentically herself. She expressed her hope for peace, love, and protection for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Lakewood Police Department confirmed the discovery of a body on Friday. Jax was last seen leaving her Denver apartment around 10 p.m. on April 15. She had told her roommate that she would be out for about three hours, but she never returned.

After Jax was reported missing, her mother shared her fears for her daughter’s safety. She expressed her concern that her daughter may have been killed, citing Jax’s history of abusive relationships.
