A fatal shooting transpired at a cosmetics warehouse in Ohio on Tuesday evening, leaving one person dead and five others injured. The suspect, Bruce Reginald Foster III, is still at large, as per the reports from law enforcement agencies. The incident unfolded at the KDC/One cosmetics facility in New Albany, a town roughly 15 miles northeast of Columbus, Ohio’s capital city.
The shooting, believed to be a targeted attack, broke out around 11 p.m., as reported by New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones. Six individuals were shot within the vast warehouse, with one victim declared dead at the scene. The other five victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, but their current conditions have not been disclosed.
Foster, the suspect, is a 6-foot-tall male, weighing around 175 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. Despite the ongoing search for Foster, police do not perceive him as a general threat to the public. “We believe we may know their location. It appears at this point to be a targeted type of attack,” Chief Jones stated.
Following the incident, the warehouse was evacuated, and a firearm was recovered from the scene. The situation is still evolving, according to Jones. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, with no reports of a dispute either before or after the incident.
Upon reaching the scene, officers found some individuals self-evacuating the building. First responders were able to evacuate approximately 150 people, moving them to a nearby building about 400 yards away from the shooting site. Law enforcement is currently interviewing witnesses among the evacuees to assist the investigation, overcoming language barriers with some employees.
Authorities are in the process of informing the families of the injured and deceased. “Everybody else seems to be in good health,” Jones said. “Again, a lot of them didn’t know what happened. They weren’t aware of it until they were evacuated.” The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
“This has been a very tragic situation. Our thoughts go out to the victims, their families, and everybody that works at this facility,” Jones said. “This is something that we hoped that would never happen in our community. But we prepare for it.”
