A substitute teacher from Nebraska was apprehended after being discovered unclothed in a vehicle with a 17-year-old student, who attempted to escape but ended up crashing the car and fleeing the scene in his undergarments, according to local law enforcement. The teacher, Erin Ward, 45, was arrested on a Saturday night after she was discovered undressed with a male student from an Omaha high school where she had been teaching, as reported by the Douglas County Sheriff’s department.
The police were alerted to the situation after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle parked at a dead-end around 3 a.m. that night. Upon arrival, they found two individuals in the backseat of the car. The startled teenager then scrambled to the front seat and drove off, only to crash the vehicle two blocks away and flee on foot.
Ward, who is married, stayed at the scene and began to dress in the back of the car. She later admitted to engaging in sexual activities with the student. The car in which they were found belonged to Ward and her spouse.
Ward was identified as a substitute teacher at Burke High School in Omaha, where the student was also enrolled. She was found with an ID from Omaha Public Schools and confessed to having worked as a substitute at various schools, including Burke High School.
The student was later found hiding in a yard, dressed only in underwear and a t-shirt. Ward has since been charged with felony sexual abuse by a school employee.
