Man Stabs Wife 40 Times on Valentine’s Day

An Indiana man, Taylor Meyer, is facing charges for allegedly murdering his wife, Deborah, on Valentine’s Day. Court documents reveal that Meyer, 34, is accused of assaulting his wife with a wine bottle and stabbing her 40 times with a large knife while their three young children were asleep upstairs in their Jeffersonville home. The brutal act reportedly followed a Paris-themed evening that Meyer had planned, which he claimed his wife showed little appreciation for.

The court documents suggest that Meyer’s elaborate Valentine’s Day plans were a desperate attempt to salvage his marriage. He had grown suspicious in January that his 36-year-old wife was having an affair with a co-worker. In an effort to rekindle their relationship, he arranged a “Bringing Paris to you” evening, complete with a new dress for his wife, a special dinner, and drawings of the Eiffel Tower made by their children.

Despite his efforts, which included a handwritten card and a dance to their wedding song, Meyer told police that his wife seemed unimpressed. He claimed that she left the house for 20 minutes, which he believed was to meet her alleged lover. Upon her return, a violent altercation ensued when Meyer tried to take her phone, leading to a physical struggle.

According to Meyer’s account to the police, his wife challenged him, asking if he intended to kill her and leave their children parentless. He managed to take the phone, sat on her back, and called the alleged lover, blaming him for the situation. The struggle continued, with Meyer admitting to hitting his wife multiple times with a wine bottle until she lost consciousness.

The court documents further allege that Meyer then found a large kitchen knife and stabbed his wife multiple times, including in her chest. He reportedly took a photo of her lifeless body and sent it to the alleged lover with a text message reading, “Your Fault.” He also allegedly confessed to friends and family that he had killed his wife.

When police arrested Meyer, they found the couple’s three children, all under five years old, inside the house. Meyer has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and will remain in custody until his trial in July.
