In a horrifying incident in Queens, a man fatally stabbed his wife and their two-year-old daughter before attempting to take his own life with the same weapon, according to law enforcement officials. The 54-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, reportedly attacked his 41-year-old wife and their toddler with a kitchen knife, inflicting multiple wounds to their necks and chests. The incident occurred at their residence in the Ridgewood neighborhood on Saturday.
Residents of the quiet, working-class area were left in shock by the gruesome act. One neighbor, who identified himself as Andres, expressed his disbelief, stating, “It’s shocking, you know, that it happens right next door to you. I guess, you don’t know who your neighbors are.”
Following the attack, the 41-year-old woman was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The toddler was transported to Wykoff Heights Medical Center in critical condition, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries later that evening.
The 54-year-old assailant was also taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities recovered a kitchen knife from the scene, believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
Neighbors reported no signs of disturbance from the family’s apartment on the day of the incident. One neighbor, who shares a wall with the family’s apartment, recounted hearing the man singing in the shower that morning, seemingly oblivious to the horrific act he was about to commit. The neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their disbelief, stating, “Like he was starting a normal day. Singing a happy song. You don’t hear the fights, you don’t hear anything.”
