Prosecutors in Seattle have stated that they are reviewing charges against a man suspected of killing a pregnant woman in downtown Seattle. The suspect is being held in custody and is facing charges of murder, assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
On Wednesday, the police released a report stating a video captured the suspect shooting into the car of the 34-year-old victim, Eina Kwon, at Fourth Avenue and Lenora Street in the Belltown neighborhood on Tuesday. Witnesses reported no communication between Kwon and the suspect before the shooting.
Furthermore, the suspect allegedly shouted, “I did it, I did it,” when he was caught. Kwon was rushed to the hospital, eventually succumbing to her injuries, and her baby died soon after. An autopsy revealed that Kwon had been shot four times.
A 37-year-old man in the car with Kwon was also injured and taken to the hospital but was released the following day.
Friends of the couple reported that they were living the “American dream.” When police questioned the suspect, he said he had seen a gun in the car, contradicting the video evidence. Records showed that the suspect had a felony record and had recently moved from Illinois to Seattle.
The shooting has caused outrage and grief in the Belltown area, as there have already been multiple shootings this year.
