In a shocking incident, a North Carolina man took to social media to confess to the murder of his wife before he ended his own life. George Lesniak, 63, fatally shot his wife, Cathleen Lesniak, 59, in their home on the evening of January 18, as per the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.
The former vice president of New York-based Autel Automotive Intelligence USA, George Lesniak, was found by the police in his residence with a self-inflicted fatal injury. The tragic event took place in the couple’s spacious home in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, located 18 miles southwest of Raleigh.
Following the shooting, George Lesniak posted on Facebook, claiming that he had killed his wife due to her alleged infidelity, as reported by the NC Beat. The post was made in a now-private ADAS Support group, a community for technicians who perform ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibrations on vehicles, where Lesniak served as an administrator.
In his final message, Lesniak informed the group members about his actions and left the future of the Facebook group to them. The post has since been removed.
The couple, who had been married for over three decades, were found in their home shortly after Lesniak’s message was posted. The police were alerted to the incident three minutes after the post was made.
While the police have assured the public that there is no threat, they are conducting a comprehensive investigation due to the complex nature of the incident. The authorities have yet to officially confirm the incident as a murder-suicide.
Cathleen Lesniak was employed as a technical production manager at Advanced Auto Parts, according to her now-private Facebook page. George Lesniak, originally from Illinois, was a graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute and had served as the vice president of training at Autel Automotive Intelligence. He had been working remotely with the Long Island company for over five years before leaving in September 2024.
Autel Automotive expressed their condolences in a brief Facebook post following the tragic incident. The company expressed deep sadness over the events that transpired at the Lesniak residence and extended their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the couple.
