A California man, Andrey Demskiy, 28, was apprehended by authorities on Friday after allegedly decapitating his one-year-old son in a violent episode that also left his wife and mother-in-law injured, as per police reports. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office stated that Demskiy first assaulted his wife and mother-in-law shortly after 4 a.m.
The two women managed to escape the residence and awaited the arrival of law enforcement. Demskiy, however, did not respond to the sheriff’s deputies who arrived at the scene. Upon learning that the child was still inside the house with his father, the deputies were compelled to force their way into the residence.
The sheriff’s office reported that there was a possibility that the child had been injured by his father, who allegedly threw him. Upon entering the home, Demskiy was found to be uncooperative and physically resistant.
The gruesome discovery of the decapitated body of his young son in the bedroom was made by the deputies. It is alleged that Demskiy used a knife to carry out the horrific act. Following the discovery, Demskiy was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
The sheriff’s office has stated that Demskiy is not eligible for bail. His mother-in-law, who was also a victim in the violent incident, was transported to the hospital. Her injuries, while serious, are not considered life-threatening.
Demskiy is scheduled to appear in court again on December 24. The shocking incident has left the community in disbelief, as they grapple with the horrifying act of violence that has occurred in their midst.
