Man Arrested After Road Rage Shooting Injures Toddler

A Texas man is currently in custody after a severe road rage incident resulted in a 2-year-old girl being shot and critically injured, according to local law enforcement. Jason Cain, a 50-year-old Dallas resident, is facing three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one charge of intentionally causing serious bodily harm to a child, as per Dallas County jail records.

The incident took place around 8 p.m. on a Sunday night on Sweetwater Drive in east Dallas, near the Forest Hills neighborhood. Preliminary investigations by the Dallas Police Department revealed that Cain allegedly fired into a vehicle, hitting a two-year-old girl. The child was rushed to a local hospital, where she was treated and later released.

On the night of the incident, a family was on their way to complete a Door Dash delivery when they encountered a man on a motorcycle, later identified as Cain. The family reported to investigators that the man was riding without lights in the dark. To avoid a collision, the family’s car swerved and honked at the motorcyclist, leading to a verbal altercation between the two parties.

Following the altercation, Cain allegedly pursued the family’s car and fired two shots into the vehicle. One bullet hit the toddler in the abdomen, ricocheting off her ribs and lodging in her diaphragm. Doctors decided to leave the bullet in the child’s body, deeming its removal potentially more harmful.

A local resident, who heard the gunshots, rushed outside to investigate. She reported seeing the mother of the child, covered in blood, screaming that her baby had been shot. The resident advised the family to drive to the nearest hospital while she dialed 911.

Cain was later identified as the suspect through a combination of witness accounts and video evidence of the shooting. Witnesses reported seeing a motorcycle with a sidecar, with a dog in the sidecar, following a gray sedan before hearing two gunshots.

During a search of Cain’s residence, police reportedly found numerous Nazi and satanic symbols, rifles, and a handgun. The local resident who called 911 expressed shock that one of her neighbors could be involved in such a horrific act.

The toddler is currently reported to be in stable condition. Cain is being held in the north tower of the Dallas County jail, with a combined bond set at $850,000.
