Man accused of throwing woman in blanket off 4th-floor balcony

Police in Tulsa, Oklahoma have accused a man of throwing an apparently unconscious woman off a fourth-floor balcony at an apartment complex. The victim survived the ordeal, although she was badly wounded, according to the authorities. Richard Lee Wallace Jr. is being charged with aggravated assault and battery.

Police reported that on March 18th, 2020, at around 4:30 a.m., they were called to investigate the incident. Firefighters found the woman on the ground in the courtyard, with critical injuries including multiple broken bones and a broken femur and ankle. Surveillance footage showed Wallace leaving an apartment with the woman, who was wrapped in a blanket and seemed unconscious. Wallace allegedly went to a nearby common area and threw the woman off the balcony, then refused to come out of the apartment. He eventually opened the door and complied after a brief encounter with officers.

At the time of writing, a Tulsa police spokesperson stated that there was no update on the woman’s condition. Wallace is being held at the Tulsa County Jail on a $10,000 bond, and is due to appear in court on Friday. He does not yet have an attorney of record.
